When You trunk mount the battery is it accectable (ie. will it pass tech) if the positive cable is run back through the passenger compartment?

I have a trunk divider and all of the defroster and spaeker holes are blocked off too.

I used gromments to sheld the postitive wire on the firewall and trunk divider passthroughs.

Thanks for the help!

Greg

It is acceptable to run the cable through the passenger compartment. Your trunk divider has to be .024" steel or .032" aluminum minimum. You also have to have a master shut off switch accessible from the rear of the car, and it has to shut the motor off when switched off.

In place of a rear firewall you can mount the battery in an approved box that is vented to the outside of the car.

What 'zilla said.

The easiest way to get the car to shut off with a plain 2-post battery switch is to extend the alternator output all the way to the battery side of the switch. This way the alternator is cut off from the rest of the electrical system, but not cut off from the battery. Of course this renders the ammeter inoperative. You also have to run a 10 gauge or better wire from the starter to the starter relay. This replaces the small wire from the + battery cable.

Isn't there also something about 3/8 bolts fastening the holdown to the frame rails?
