At long last, my slanted truck is running! Finally got the Motorcraft carb and modified super six manifold mated to the engine and fired it up! I still have to do some head scratching in order to hook up a throttle cable (stocker is waaay too long) but she fired up and idled nice and smooth! No exhaust yet, so it annoyed the neighbors. But sure sounds healthy!

Everybody said not to use any other carb but the 1.08, but I couldn't find one.So I am using a 1.14 and so far it seems to like it.

Many thanks to hantayo and slantzilla. Without you two, this would not have gotten done today!

That is a good carb and easily tune-able.

I'd see if a V8 throttle cable would work as they are shorter.

I think you need to trim the thermostat end of your upper radiator hose.

I think you're right about the radiator hose, gonna get to that soon. I tried trimming the throttle cable and it frayed like crazy. Gotta go to Plan B: find another cable.

Yup. And connect the PCV valve to manifold vacuum (drill and tap the EGR blockoff plate). Nice work so far!

Not quite a weber copy. 2100 if I recall correctly it is basically a half a 4 barrel carb in basis.

To question about weber copy, have to clarify a bit:
Holley 5100 for fords, produced these 5100, 5200/6500 series under weber's license.

These 5000/6000 series it is in GOOD shape. lucky. If poor, it simply is a misery, no matter if much rebuild you have done to it. It is cranky if cranky.

Had to get weber instead.

Cheers, Wizard

Not at all. It's a synchronous opening 2bbl Ford/Autolite design. They are actually a very good carburetor.

I know the carb you are talking about now. I had one on a '69 model 302 in my '76 Ford van.

Yep, it's a Ford carb. This one came off a `66 Falcon with a 289. I know I will have to jet it most likely, but this thing seems so dang simple it's beyond belief!

Dan, I had the PCV hooked up before I started it. Snapped the pic right after torquing down the manifolds. I have now been bitten by the slant bug. No cure, is there?

Thanks, Rick

One of these. Motorcraft 2100 / Autolite 2100 carb. Look for a circle cast on the side of the float bowl that says "1.08" or "1.14". Anything smaller (0.98 ) or larger (1.21 and up) simply will not do. Image

I got this from the Jeep guys (like my dad), who for some reason (like my dad) absolutely hate the Carter BBD. So, following their advice I decided to go with this carb instead of a Carter. Which as we all know, lives a good life atop a slant.

A standard 4bbl air cleaner will fit that!

It's because AMC-spec BBDs are problematic and troublesome.
