i have a 64 dodge dart 225 three speed on the column..not sure the kind it is...its non syncrho any input on that would be helpful....

now the problem...in first gear this morning there was a slight grinding nosie that got louder in second..then went away in third. shifting into second the noise came back then completely disengaged and could not get into anygear it just kept grinding in all finally somehow by the grace of god got it into third and managed to not need to downshift till i got to work....please help

Sounds like your clutch release "throw-out" bearing may be bad.

Yep. But it requires removal of the transmission and disassembly of the clutch to get access, so you may want to go ahead and replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel while you're in there. Also wait to do anything until you get more answers here in this thread; manual transmissions aren't my area of strongest knowledge.

we replaced the clutch when we swapped motors less tha 2000 miles ago.

Did you use a new throw-out bearing? And, are you sure the new engine had the pilot bore bushing in the back flange of the crankshaft?

piolet bushing does make it grind and easy to forget..not that I would know :oops: ...check your linkage first, see if it got bumped or is loose.
