Hello! I am new to the Slant Six forum. I have read the article by Robert DiBiase regarding the EFI for the Slant, and I have a couple questions. The article was really informative, but I am curious as to whether a GM 4.3L setup would also work for converting to EFI? I ask this question because, although I have a /6 in my '68 Dart (and will use the 3.8L GM for it), I also have an Australian 265 (Hemi 6). After reading the article for my slant, I got to thinking that, because the displacements are virtually identical, perhaps the GM EFI system to that engine would be a similar swap. Can anyone give me some more information as to WHY the 3.8L works so well with the /6? Is there some consideration other than displacement that I need to consider? (I have not determined if the 4.3L is batch fired or not.) Thanks in advance! :?:

The '84-'85 3.8L set-up was chosen for two reasons: displacement and the fact that it was a batch fired system and didn't need a cam sensor. I have since discovered that a sequential ECM will default to batch fire with the lack of a cam sensor signal. However, if you want to use a sequential ECM to control your distributor ignition things will get much more complicated. I'm actually in the process of working out the details of doing this with my turbo EFI SL6. It runs real strong but has a miss beyond about half throttle.

Wow Bob, sounds like you are making progress on the turbo addition to your EFI set-up.
So, do you think the miss is caused by the system going lean or is it an ignition problem?
How do the sparkplugs look?

Doug,
I've been fighting this miss for about a week now. I suspect that it is a matter of finding the right combination (MAF, ECM EPROM, fuel pressure, fuel injectors etc.). Today I got it so that it only misses at WOT. Even at half throttle and about 7 pounds of boost I have much more power than I ever dreamed of. It's really incredible! I'll keep you posted.
Here are some pictures if they will work. Check out the "factory" dash. http://hometown.aol.com/bbobbias/page1.html

So, the 4.3L V6 has a sequential ECM, but it will default to batch fire if it doesn't have a cam sensor signal? Then, it should work for the 265, if it is setup similar to your article. Thanks a ton, Bob!
