hello. i would like to know if anyone here has any experience with a rochester dual jet carb. looks like a quadrajet, but secondaries are blank.
i have a offy 4bbl intake and this carb on hand and would like to use them together to avoid buying new stuff to save some $$$. also it has an automatic choke. thanks, Andy.

I say give it a try. GM put these on millions of small V8 and V6 engines and as far as I know is known to be relatively reliable. This should also open up a lot of options for which air cleaner you can run. Let us know how it works out.

I take it the Rochester is a spreadbore base. Do you have a spreadbore adapter plate on the Offy, or were you going to use a second adapter on top?
The 4bbl offy plate is normally for a square pattern. (Holley, Edelbrock/Carter.) I saw scads of Carter's at the Woodburn Mopar Nats while walking through the swap meet with Mike yesterday. $25-$50 for 500 and 600 cfm cores. Lot's of TQ's too.

Watch the overall height if you use two adapters. Nothing like an air cleaner stud dimple in your hood.

The dualjet is a 2bl. It looks just like a 4bl quadrajet, but the area for the secondaries is closed off in the casting.

yes, this is a two barrel carb that looks just like a quadrajet with no secondaries. spread bore design, will have to get an adapter plate, no biggie there. this will be put on a stock 225 truck with about 140000 miles. the quadrajets were (are) good carbs when set up correctly and i would expect the "dual jet" to be a dependable unit as well. the only problem is i will have to give my son my offy intake. oh, well, i guess i will just have to get a hurricane intake for mine. i guess i will just have to live with that. it will be tough. thanks for the replies. this forum is the best, people actually reply with useful information. how unique. i will be making a donation soon. andy.

You can remove the Offy adapterand modify a spreadbore adapter to fit. that way you wouldn't worry about height. On a regular 4bbl spreadbore you would need to hog out the manifold for the massive secondaries.

I see you are in a truck. Height? No problemo!

CJ,

Did you see any Offy #6264 spread bore adapters for a Holley 4360 to a Offy/Weiand manifold?

It is the one with little back barrels but still off set like the Q-jet.

Let me know so I can do the swap.
