Thanks , so the CP-1014 has 3 ports, and then I purchase the purge valve.
When I first went looking for it ,when you first suggested it I found This at Rock Auto and Amazon but this is not the right one I suppose , it would be the one on the standard page.

What causes the leaks? generally the expansion and contraction of the intake manifold gasket. Every time it heats up it expands and moves around and cool down it shrinks. That is why you don't want to over torque the hold down nuts and use a good gasket.

Thanks Dan on the info for SOS Surplus , Ira is a pleasant guy , and quite a fast shipper. The vapor canister has a purge valve on top of the pcv port , and there is a ( it says ) MAN VAC valve on the carb bowl port . I take it I should just hook them both up to the vacuum advance port on the carb.

I wouldn't do that.....the line is not big enough and it will throw off your vacuum advance and reduce your mileage.

What carb are you running?
There is a port just for the canister vacuum on the carbs for the year they ran the vapor canisters.

I am running the same carb. Look at the pictures of my carb on the link below. Once the picture comes up double click on it for full screen slide show mode. You use the big fitting coming out right under the fuel bowl for the correct ported vacuum. It is next to the fuel mixture screw. It is almost the same diameter as the vent line out the top that also goes to the canister.

You can also see how the lines route to the canister. The middle line goes to the fuel tank vent line.

I see what you are talking about Ted , but I do not have a vacuum nipple there. Did yours come that way ,I have a place beside where the bolt holds down the carb ,that looks like there is a place to put one, but thats it .There is nothing under the fuel bowl.

Yes, that is the way mine came. The R7585 was built from 68 to 72. You may have an earlier one. Maybe you could drill and tap it for a fitting. Hopefully it opens to a cavity and hole above the throttle plates. Take a look and see. If not, SL6 Dan may still have one. Or look for a later crab with the fitting for the vapor canister.

Does yours have the fuel vent line coming out of the top like mine does?

I will check and see. I have another 1920 ,not an economizer , but looks the same outside) I will check in that one first. I am kind of nervous about drilling. If so, how would I drill the tap to make it work,do I need a nipple exactly the same size? I checked my 6145 ,and pulled a couple of nipples of that ,and one of them is almost the same size.I know you have worked over the 1920 every which a way :)

Yes ,my carb looks exactly like yours except for the purge port.
I went out took the air cleaner off, and looked underneath the fuel bowl ,and I can tell were the port is suppose to be, there is an indention .how can I tell if it goes above the throttle plate.Can I see it if I take of the fuel bowl side.

No you can't see it from there. It is all in the base, not the fuel bowl.

It is a shot in the dark if you drill. Try a small bit in the center and as soon as you hit the first cavity stop. Then you could ream it up to the correct size for the nipple. Do not drill through to the main venturi. You may get lucky, if not fill it with JB Weld.

Interesting that it was designed for the fitting but never installed. At least you understand the principle. You might want to look through Dan's sticky on the Holley 1920 carb manual. You might find a cut away view of the circuit. I have a very old Holley Book that shows several cut away views.

You could always just use the other 1920 "T" bar style carb that has all the fittings until you can find the correct view for the R7585 purge port circuit.

Ok , its me again .I was looking at the other 1920 (I think its a 4656 it also has 3220 on top off it)I think it is older than my economaster.I noticed when looking at the 4656 there is an indention right beside the vacuum advance port to the left.My economaster has the same indention.
I was thinking of practicing on that one first since both have the same indention in the same place, maybe someone can help out if they have the same spot or have drilled there.One other question, I noticed when looking down the 4656 it has little slits in it or holes , and they seem to be were the ports are, so to have a port have ported vacuum , there needs to be an opening in the "throat" of the carb. Can one opening service two ports ,maybe if they are side by side.I am very ignorant on this subject, I am sure a few have done this .That is enough of my rambling right now.

This is the hole that I drilled in the throat ,is this to big ?If this is what I am suppose to do , I will probably try a smaller bit to break through .
The little slit to the right is ,I think ,for the vacuum advance.

When the throttle plate is shut ,the hole is covered, I will try to put it a little higher, if I decide to do this to the economaster.
Let me know your thoughts, and would it be better to go through where the canister purge tube is suppose to be, since it will be a little higher.
