I was just looking at that 320 HP article. That thing sounds awesome but 13.5:1 compression is pretty wild. Wonder what kind of fuel they used.
I would like to know what maximum compression could be used with pump gas. Does altitude make a difference?
I think from reading this article that 280-290 HP NA on pump gas ought to be doable.

I think if you put in a bone stock /6 and then put a bunch of performance stickers all over the car you will way over 300 HP

No. That isn't going to work.

Do you want it to make nice noises and go pretty good?

Or do you want it to go like an evil rabid cheetah?

Do you really need it to go like a cursed flying rodent, or do you want the image of something nasty?

It's OK, I've had V8 rigs that sounded like they just came off the Nascar circuit that couldn't pass a Yugo with a tail wind.

What are you really trying to do here? For the cruise, you can make some interesting noises, still run pump gas, and maintain economy.

I run 15's with something relatively nasty, premium fuel, and get around 15 mpg, sometimes better. Some V8's are slower. But I don't drive the thing except to the races. I have an econobox for actual transportation.

1 guy told me to use 3 11's in the diff
I think you mean 4 11's, as in 4.11:1 ratio. Yes a gear change that big will make a big difference to your acceleration, but will also drive you crazy on the highway and hurt your fuel economy.

I've been 12 flat at 110 in street trim in a 3200#+ car. I was on spray, but not pump gas. The car would run 14 teens all day long on motor and 93 pump gas.

The bad part about wanting to knock off V-6's and small V-8's is they may not be very stock. The flip side is that they may just be a pig.

I knocked off stock 5.0 Mustangs like clockwork on motor only, and even did in some pig blocks.

I also had my azz handed to me on spray by non-stock 5.0 Mustangs and LS-1 Firebirds and Camaros.

I did put a thumping on a '68 Hemi Charger at a RT. 66 Mopar Show once. I went 14:75 and he went 16:50. Not all Hemi's have been tuned up or driven well.

First thing you really need to do is form a realistic opinion of what you want.

Also, get that stupid notion of a stock bore motor out of your head. You already want to fight with one hand tied behind your back, why make it worse on yourself?

Depends on tire size and highway speed limits(or personal ones...) I have run a 70 dart with a mild/kinda mean 225 904 and 3.55 gears. with 26 inch tall tires I could cruise the highway at 75-80 3700-3900 rpm and still knock down 21 mpg.Same combo got 24 mpg at lower speeds. Its all about the combo and how you use it...but I agree 4.11's are pretty hairy without an overdrive above 65 mph!

im thinking to switch the 3 speed auto for a 904 4 speed auto

would probably make it drive a lot smoother

:?: But a 904 is a 3 speed auto....Unless you buy a very expensive gear vendors overdrive unit.

The A833 4 speed is a tough tranny and very hard to destroy.

But unless you get the OD version of the 833, your final drive ratio is still 1:1 and you'll still be going crazy with 4:11 gears. I have a 3.80 rear drive and on 1:1 its unpleasant starting at 50mph...

Since you really can't figure out what you are trying to do, here's a present for playing our game. :D
