Again, I am looking for an explanation and advice on how to remedy the problem consisting in a pool of good amount of water that comes from the under the dash black box in the passenger side of my Plymouth Duster when I turn the AC on. The AC is working, that is, is cooling. Thanks for your help.

Your condensation drain hose for the evaporator is plugged. Clean it out, and the problem should be taken care of.

hello thor- followed your thread on this seemingly simple problem . one question. i have not had water piling up on the floor from the ac yet but expect it since the acs run most of the time here in se fla. the acs in my sebring, buick and saturn L each have a little hose at the bottom of the outside firewall which drips water when the ac is on. guessing the remedy is to gently run a blunted wire or pipe cleaner through it to ream out the goup and restore free flow. am i right or is there a better shortcut. central acs in homes have the same problem . their condensate drain pipes have to have bleach/water mix blown through them with a garden hose to clear the mold and mildew buildup periodically. thanks. bob f

Using something like a long pipe cleaner (those wierd colorful ones) to get up in there is probably the most effective.

Other items work too just be careful as to not damage the hose.

One way to avoid the mold/mildew is to only run on the "cabin air recirculation" mode until the cabin is to a comfortable temp. Then set the controls to pull outside air instead of inside.

That in of itself will stave off the mold smell, and clogged drain tubes for a longer period of time.

Turn the AC off about a 1/2 before you get home (but leave the fan on) to dry out the evaporator and avoid mold............
