By my count, Glen has 179 points...you only keep your best 4 races, but you get all of the single points for each race attended according to the rules.

Wow, hard to beat someone who is good and can attend 9 races...

At some point we had a rule about only attending 7 races to count points from. Also, you have to decide ahead of time which race to drop if you go to another race beyond 4, BEFORE you get put on the ladder for points.

I will drop my 2nd Knoxville race (zero round pts) in order to run Clay City for pts.

Cj has it right,Glen loves to race and hits the track as often as he can.He long ago quit caring about how fast he is and works at dialing the car in,he is a master at the finish line.We have had various winners this year and the competition is better but we have many inexperience racers and some that only compete at selected events. As an example i heard several people at sac this week feeling good about ,098 to .150 lights,in reality you should never win a round with those against good competition.,but it takes seat time and a car that can repeat to be competitive . Some of the bees may not like this ,but the guys at Kearney from top to botton were much more in tune with what it takes to win and much more competitive.

I can tell you why Glen wins he is a racer. Doint mind the whihsles bells buzzers smoke screens. He is a racer with a good car. after going to the killerbee web site it is why they are ahead of us on the east coast. But I think race locacions may favor the killer bees might do some research on that. plus they are more orginized than us. Hell when you have three 40 point wins and a 50point win I doint think it matters if you count seven races or nine races or four races. Thanks Ron Parker

Nobody from the south/east felt like that when the midwest racers were getting trounced by you guys who had twice as many races you could easily get to as we could. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

As has been stated, the west coast has a lot more hobby racers than die hard bracket racers. It does help.

Kinda like when certain racers used to duck hunt street cars and stay away from real racers. :roll:

Actually, I (and others) worked to equalize things on many counts after joining the SE ranks. Random ladder was a big help.

It's always nice to get more people involved, and have a chance of winning early on. I am more die hard (stupid?) than most. I went to Slant 6 races for over 2 yrs before I ever won a round. The competition was pretty stiff. Good to be a fun run watcha brung racer and enjoy the family atmosphere, and winning once in a while doesn't hurt either...

I would be happier showing up to Clay City with 16+ cars there and not win a round rather than 8 cars and I go to the finals.

Yep
I have always been fodder but dont care A BAD day Racin is worth the 750 mile trip.
When the FED is done and the Dart are ready we will be spending lots more time at the track.

I was surprised that there were as few racers at some of the East Coast races as there were. Probably a lot of different reasons. We had 9 at Mason Dixon for a first race, and I can easily count 8-10 more who were planning to come and didn't. But the good news is that I know of at least 4 or 5 new cars and racers that are excited about next year already. Maybe we will have the biggest East coast race next year.

That would be great if the East gets more cars. But the reason why I don't see me joining in is the 3.5 hours driving to the track, only to see it is 1/8 mile. I can't believe how many 1/8 mile tracks there are in the South.

If you do get new people, the thing to give them incentive is winning a round. Tip - if you have two rookies at an event, rather than putting them up against veterans for an easy kill, have the rookies face each other first race. Then at least one will walk away with a victory in round one.

Another incentive to keep new people - keep costs low. And never say "Let's ADD $20 each, to make for a bigger payoff". That is great for the veterans. But it will turn off the rookies. That just means more money they know they will lose, unless they get lucky. And if they don't win, they might decide never to do that again.

That's my two cents, which is probably worth nothing. But I said it anyway.

63dartdude, please don't be hesitant to add your voice to our discussion. We NEED racing newcomers like yourself to share your thoughts and ideas, so we can get a clue about what we could do differently. Personally, I drive one of the slower vehicles and while I do not win rounds at every race, I learn something new each time by talking, listenening, questioning, the experienced racers. On the east coast, we draw a random ladder at each race. This leaves the first round pairings up to chance. Recently I have watched rookies draw bye runs, and 2 past champs race each other first round! You just can't get any more fair than that! Please come on out and join us at Clay City October 10th, and you will have a blast!

Thanks. I see that Clay City is a quarter mile track, but it is also a 6 hour drive. There is no way to hit it this year. I will look into it next year.

At Mason Dixon back in May, it cost $35 to race. I believe we gave back the first round losers $20. So it only cost anyone $15 to race. Winner took home over $250 (Lou) and runner up $150. I think it is good to have it be pretty cheap to race for the rookies and new comers. We definitely want them to come back. And in 2010, I may be a first round loser and I need to money !! :D :D

Rick after talking to Lou and other racers that went there this year I am going to race there next year. New track for me maybe meet new Slanted Friends. Every body said the track and people were good to us and that is what we need. We thought we might make Kerrney this year but it did not work out for us for several reasons. ie Retired Money Ect. I can do four races next year on my budget. But things could look better next year and might do more. Thanks Ron Parker :D
