Pierre,
Another thing about the oil draining back down from the filter...
The new oil pump for my 225 rebuild included a longer "standpipe"
(vertical tube that goes up into the center hole on your filter) to
replace the short stubby one, if your original one came so equipped.
My original had the taller tube, so I swapped them out. It keeps
about 2/3 volume of filter capacity contained, it can't drain down.

Might want to check the length of your tube.

(Sorry, couldn't resist that one.)

First off my research shows that new Mopar oil filters are made by multiple manufacturers and are not neccesarily the greatest.

Napa Gold are by Wix, and Wix filters are considered by many to be some of the finest for filtration and flow. AC are considered in this same category.

Purolator One and Mobil 1 are considered excellent filtration, but some people worry about flow.

Across the board Frams are derided, for construction and filtration mostly.

I use 20-50, whatever is on sale, usually Cheveron. About a quart every two weeks. I have used FRAM filters, since forever, never had a problem. I use the PH8A and change it every 6 months.

First an intro-I'm new to this site and "puters"but not to /6s(was Fl..regional dir. when Jack and the News were alive). OIL..I've been "interested" in oil since I worked @ a Texaco service station in the mid to late 50s (yes that makes me a old fart. ) and HD oil (Heavy duty,High det. No one explained what ) arrived.
What a panic, put that stuff in an old Ford, Chev, Ply, I don't care what and TROUBLE..A new car OK but the old ones running straight mineral oils the HDs started plugging what few passages were open (these did not have full flow filters so most of the "dirt" was attached to the inside of the engine!!!)... Next after USN and College I opened a Outboard, snowmobile ,Lawn and garden,Chainsaw business ( and raced sleds for about 8 yrs.as a Pro?) the problem then was the two cycle oils. They were not up to the needs of the engines! Most of the manufactures ( in my opinion, just relabeled there straight oils, two stroke and charged another $1 per qt.) Meanwhile the Society of Auto engineers (SAE) and the American petroleum Institute, api had been testing and rating oils as the manufactures tolerances got closer. TCW became the rating for two stroke and the SA,SB, etc. for other gas engines (diesels have other ratings due to their very high compression and contamentants).I think we are up to TCWIII orIV now..To add to this confusion about 30 years ago something called synthetics arrived!!! ( Lubricants built not refined) remember Mobile 1 started off calling theirs the 25K motor oil (then found out that they sold much more oil, at high prices if you adhered to Manufacters Recomendations). In 1993 new oil specs were established between SAE, API, and the American Institute for Testing and Materials (we will not get into European grades since they have been using 10 to12K for years.) The first was GF1 now up to GF3 and GF4 coming..Gf3 is API Sl. (remember way back it was Sa,Sb.) These tests (ratings) are for fuel economy, oxidation, stability, volatility, emission system protection high temp deposits and low temp pumpability.

SOOOO what is the best oil for our 40 year old design?? I guess the ad says it best "pay me now or pay me later". The least quality oil today has way better specs than the first Slants called for.The synthetics will be found in almost any racing (the ones wining) engine. and for those who care a few $ more is very good insurance. Every day drivers used in less than severe driving, most ANY brand for your climate..What do I use..AMSOIL and REDLINE..

Thanks every body.

You all should check out bobistheoilguy.com
That is quite the interesting site.

I used Amsoil in my circle track car (60 wt), and use Mobil 1 0w-30 in my Avalanche. The Ramcharger (rebuilt 360) gets Mobil 1 5w-30.

I put a synthetic/mineral blend in the 50,000 mile slant in the Duster, but I'll probably go to a full synthetic.

I use Napa Gold/Wix or Pure One filters.

Everything I've read says friends don't let friends use Fram oil filters.
