Guys, thanks for the interest! Time for me to do the research! If anyone can post prices from the usual vendors, that would be most helpful! I am very happy with the results! I will call ARP On Tues. and see where we stand. Thanks, Wayne.

I'm thinking I'll take a head stud kit. Gotta make sure the head stays put on this copper gasket!

Just checked Summit's on line catalog to try to find a baseline price for ARP bolts. Here is what I found:

142-4001 head stud kit $94.95

142-5401 main stud kit $54.95

142-6001 rod bolts 76 & earlier slants $57.95

142-6002 rod bolts 77 & later slants $55.95

I will be doing the same with Jegs. If anyone finds a lower price on line please let me know so we can get a good "feel" for this group buy. Arp also offers torque converter bolts for the 727 and 904. They also offer apparel, patches, banners etc.

With the amount of people interested and with several wanting complete sets, this is looking promising! Thanks again, guys.

Just got off the phone with "Ron" at ARP. Explained our situation, how many interested parties, and how we have built relationships/group buys with Erson, Offy, Aussie Speed, K1,Wiseco,etc.

Just using Summit's regular pricing this order would be well over three grand.

He said he would run this by a couple of his supervisors and welcomed me to call again tomorrow at the same time. Sounds like we shouldn't hold our breath.

When we were talking about Summit he told me he wasn't sure if he could match their pricing. He said that many of ARP dealers complain about not being able to compete with Summit and Jegs. He told me that those two distributors when they place orders do so in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I will call Ron tomorrow and see what his supers said. If it is a no go, maybe we should approach Summit and Jegs and see what they can do for us. Any and all ideas/suggestions are always welcome. Thanks Wayne.

Greg thanks for your support! Sounds like a Bartles & James commercial! :D Talked to Ron Williams at ARP today and the guy he needed to check with was busy giving some VIP's a tour of the shop. He said I could call back tomorrow - and I'm going to do just THAT! I am not giving up on this! I may have to change my user name to "Village Idiot". Hang in there guys and cross your fingers and maybe your toes.

Talked with Ron again today and the big wig in question was a no show. He encouraged me to try Summit. I asked him for a contact person and he said he couldn't help me there as they fax all their orders. Ron was good to talk to and clearly understood what we are trying to accomplish. So I am off to begin courting Summit and Jegs. I may not have time to do this until Monday. Going to watch the Irish play in South Bend this weekend. Don't know which contact method would be most effective. E-mail, phone or snail mail? Again any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Time for another glass of chablis....... :D

Back on track. Called Summit today. Talked to a salesman named Gordon who refered me to Jim Foltz. Explained again about our group of interested slanters and our group buy track record. Also told him that ARP recommended dealing with Summit. Conversation ended with giving him my e-mail and home phone while he gave me his extension number. He is looking into what he can do for us. I expect him to get back in a day or two. Things are looking positive again!

Sorry for taking so long - seems "the world is too much with me" at the moment. Another positive note - my freshman son's football team won their conference this evening! :D Go Pioneers!

Jim left a message on the machine this evening. He said that the best/easiest way to get reduced pricing was though their Pro Shop Program. To be eligible we need a NHRA licensed driver. In our first conversation I told him many of us were racers. Later in the message he mentioned if we all were (licensed) it would be (again) easy. Going to have to clear this up next week. He also said that if we could not meet these requirements we would have to look at another program. Looks like we have a good contact and I am optimistic!

So...anyone have an NHRA license? Talk to me guys - tell me what ya think.
