I posted an "NHRA license" APB in the Racer's forum, to make sure all the SL6 racers will see it.

Are they talking a 9.99 or quicker license, or just a comp number holder?

Mike J has a comp number for sure. Don't think he has a 9.99 or quicker license though.

He is an NHRA National Record holder too if that would wake Summit up. :D

Doc and Zilla thanks for your help in ths effort! There was a bit of confusion as to whether we would need one or all of us to have a NHRA license. To get the Pro Shop discount (wonder what kind of figure that would be?) we would all have to have it.

Instead, Jim offered us a 10% discount off of their regular pricing. Don't know if we could find anything any lower. On a complete engine set this would start to add up!

What do you guys think? Please let me know. Thanks, Wayne.

Go Doug! You can be a slant six ARP dealer ;)

Wayne how much more did we save being an NHRA licensed driver?

Guys thanks for the response. Looks as if the Pro shop won't work for us. It would require a NHRA license for each and every one of us. We could then enter into this Pro Shop on an individual basis for our discount. Jim didn't say the amount of savings with this program. This is an ongoing program that Jim mentioned after I said that many of us were racers.

His second option to help us out is to offer our interested guys a 10% discount over their (Summit's) regular pricing.

Have not discussed any details beyond that - just wanted to get this offer out to the community. Thanks for your interest, please let me know what you think. Wayne.

Well I need to buy a set pretty soon, so I'm up for either discount pathway. Just let us know!

Thanks for taking the time to do this!

The plot thickens! Just did some additional research and came up with head stud kit #142-4001 for $71.97 from CNC Motorsports. That is substantially cheaper than Summit on this item. Anyone dealt with this company? I will be calling them tomorrow to follow up on this new lead. Cross those fingers.

Just got off the phone with Chris at CNC Motorsports. Talked about or group buy etc. His price of $71.97 for a slant head stud kit beats summit by about 23 bucks!!!!! He says he can't go any lower on this price but he assured me that he can get us all of the ARP stuff we need @ this low markup!!! Summit's 10% off saves us less than 10 bucks on the same product.

Please chime in and let me know what you think! I will talk to Chris soon with other part #'s and get the skinny.

Main stud kit = $43.95 CNC $54.95 Summit (less 10%)

Rod bolts 142-6001= $43.95 CNC $57.95 Summit (less 10%)

Rod bolts 142-6002 = #43.95 CNC $55. 95 Summit (less 10%)

A complete engine set w/Summit $20.79 savings CNC $ 47.00 savings.

CNC won't budge off these prices. Don't know as I blame them they are pretty darn low.

Summit would probably match these prices -but If they can only match I say CNC might be the one to try. Chris at CNC says he can ship individual orders. But if he won't come off any prices this isn't exactly a group buy. I could contact Summit and see what they can do but I always like to go with the underdog. Talk to me fellas!

I assume we'll be able to get the head kits too? I'm down for a head stud and main stud kit. Thanks!

Talked to my contact at Summit. He is looking into the situation. Summit will most likely match these prices and they offer free shipping. Will get back to CNC and see about shipping. Told Chris about our website. Just trying to get everything out front and cut down on the BS factor. Hopefully we can be confident about finding the best possible price and give that vendor our business.

Jim from Summit left a message yesterday evening. He talked to his team leader Stan Clark and they will beat CNC's prices on each product by one dollar. For example the head stud kit would now be $70.95 from Summit.

Even though the prices on main and rod bolts were not advertised on CNC's website they will beat those prices that I obtained over the phone. This is not normally their policy and they are taking me on my word.

I have not yet found out about the cam button thingys or fasteners for aluminum blocks. I will see what I can do.

Guys it would be nice if everyone could check back in and let be know if these prices are acceptable and again what products you are interested in purchasing. This way I can Better informed when I call Stan on Monday.

Summit again offers free shipping with only a small handling fee. After working on this for awhile I feel we have obtained the best pricing we are going to find.

Chime in and talk to me! Everyone have a good weekend, Wayne.

Is CNC Motorsports a Canadian company? Will there be any additional charges, import duties, broker fees, etc, that we should be aware of?
