Seems like I read somewhere before that there was a certain 727 application that required a short tailshaft....anybody know what this came in?

The ones I know of at least from the B/RB and LA block vehicles are:

A & F bodies
M-body police cars
Vans
some E-body cars had them (two numbers matching Barracudas in my area have a 383-4v and an A-727 shortie...)

good luck on the hunt...

Tom, to the best of my knowledge, the shorties only came in some vans. However , just the other day, I saw one that had a transfer case, that was removeable. It was from a 4 wheel drive truck. Years ago Fairbanks transmissions had a shortie kit for the 727. You might check around on different boards, and race transmission builders, to see if any one still has one of these shortie kits.

Tom, I saw one yesterday. It was out if a van, small block bell. It think it did not have a slip yoke, not sure as I was looking more at the 360 he was getting rid of that he thinks is a 318. Can slip yokes be used with this tailshaft? If your looking for one, let me know quik, I may be able to get it and with Charlie S's help (if he has room) have it to you at Bristol.

Tom, look for something with a long wheelbase. I think these were used in a two driveshaft/carrier bearing application.
I may end up with the trans anyway, I'm going to offer $25 for the "318" and 727. Anyone need a short A727 or know someone who does?

Bought one at Bristol...$40 for the whole trans. Not sure we will ever need it but at least we have one just in case.
