Fellow Slanters,

We will be having our yearly banquet for the Mid and Eastern US in late Jan or early Feb. Location will be somewhere near Knoxville, TN. We need to decide on dates soon, and this takes some coordination with the place we will stay.

I would like volunteers to help with organizing this - booking lodging, coordinating meals, etc...

I feel I have done a lot this year and I would like some help with this since my job (~60 hrs/wk) and other things have gotten busier. I simply cannot do all of this myself.

We can do it at the same place as last year to simplify things, but weather could be problematic for that hillside retreat. Thoughts??

Please help!

Lou

So, James and Frank are interested. Thanks to both of you.

Not very encouraging on the numbers.

I would like to attend, hopefully the wife won't protest. Pm me with something specific I could help with, as I'm not sure what I could do...

Looks like the chosen date will be Feb. 27 weekend. Main thing I would need now is a deposit for chalet reservations and confirmation you can make that date.

PM your email and/or phone number.

Thanks for your interest!

Lou

I am interested too - I will check my calendar and see if it's possible to make it. I have never been to the banquet and thought it might be nice to show up.

The weather and hills could turn a 10 Hour trip into a 20 hour trip :-(

Where is the location of the event exactly?

Bristol / Johnson city is a bit closer for me.

Greg

Greg,

That would be fantastic if you could make it. It will be in Gatlinburg, TN, or within a few miles of it. Last year we did it at some chalets (alpinechaletrentals.com) in the hills - beautiful. It's a nice mid-winter outing... Might be easier to come over and down I75 from your place. Plane tix might not be outta sight??

I'll start another thread on this event.

Best,

Lou

Mike J was asking me about the banquet yesterday. He did not say if he was planning on attending or not though.

I seriously doubt I'll be down there. It sounds like a ton of fun, but I usually can't get any vacation time that early in the new year. (I'm low man on the totem pole on first shift)

Besides, I'm a Killer Bee anyway.

Actually, that might be an issue that needs addressing since east and west both try to claim me for national points. That's not good when I only have 10 to start with.

Actually, this year Dennis was not a Killer Bee and Frank was. Mississippi river was cutoff.

Mississippi was always the cut-off. Wayne just adopted me because I was always at Vegas.

Don't matter to me which coast I belong to. I'm not really much help anyway.

I would like to get to more races this year, but we'll see what time and money allow me.

Since I got the Jelly Bean I am looking forward to racing points at RT66 again. Haven't done it for 5 years now. It's been long enough that I've forgotten why I hated it before.

The Daytona is getting closer though. I might let Patrick take it to some Slant races if he wants to. :D
