My steering colum. Wigle wagles all over the place I think I can remove the thing and give to my passenger while in motion. Are there rebuilt kits and move my shifter to the floor on my original trans 68 dart slant6?

Check underneath, there should be 4 bolts/screws that go through these white plastic looking bushings that keep it tightened down. It's been a while since I was underneath there so my memory could be fading, but I believe those are what you loosen to drop the column down to remove the gauge cluster. See if those are loose. I'm sure others will chime in with other information.

The main frame of the column is firm its the inside that rattles wigless and it cause a short in turn signals faulty horn &shift gets stuck.

Try the reference section of your local library. Often they have old shop manuals for our cars. I once xeroxed the entire 1964 Plymouth Service Manual for $30 at my local library.

Only you Reed!

Could be the bearings in your steering column are shot.

Hey, I had a couple spare hours and some rolls of quarters. What can I say? He could probably save some time and money by just looking at or xeroxing only the pages he needs.

A quick google search turned these up:

I just recently did some steering column work on my brother's 1983 Dodge van. Not exactly the same as the steering column on your Dart, but close.

If the inner shaft wiggles enough to short the horn and lights and mess up your shifter, then something is broken or seriously worn out. I suspect you have a problem with the upper bearing, but I can't know without seeing the inside of your steering column. I would start by purchasing/renting a steering wheel puller and getting the steering wheel off of there. When the steering wheel is removed, you should be looking directly at the snap ring that holds the steering column up above the upper bearing and the horn switch/turnsignal switch and cam assembly. You will need to remove the snap ring (with the proper snap-ring removal tool) and horn/turn signal switch before you can look at the condition of the bearing in the top of the steering column.

You really should get the factory service manual for you car before you rip into this. You need to make sure you have the right tools, time, and instructions to properly disassemble and then reassemble the steering column.
