Hi all,

Forgive me if this is a dumb question (I'm very good with mechanical stuff, but not so much with electricity) but is it possible to start the car with the instrument panel out? I've pulled the panel out of my '67 Barracuda so I can remove the speedometer for repair. I'm assuming the ignition circuit doesn't run through the panel. Thus, if I make sure any and all bare wires are covered or taped over, can I start the car this way? As always, thanks for all replies or suggestions.

Roger

You'll need to connect together the heavy red and black wires with ring terminals that go on the back of the ammeter, or the car's main electrical circuit will be open/dead. Tape up this connection very securely with a lot of good-quality tape so as to prevent a possible short circuit. Then just plug the ignition switch into its socket and let it hang under the dash and off you go.

Thanks very much, Dan. I'll give it a shot.
