I was out in the garage tonight ripping apart my old 1987 Slant head, I pulled the valves out and thought i'd take a practice run at porting saying i havent done it inawhile, when i was feeling the ports on the intake/exhaust, i compaired them to a 76 head i have and there is definatly not as much meat to be taken out.

The ports seem to be pretty smooth and round'd already, the Intake port is noticably larger than the exhaust port  Just wondering if Doc has gotten a chance to grab one of these "final" slant heads for autopsy yet :)

I still have an "APB" out for a 81 and later SL6 head.

Truth is that I have been super busy with other stuff so this project is down the list a ways.

Doc, Not sure if this would be of any help or not, but i can cut it apart if you tell me where to make the cut(s)?

if you want i could take a pic or even ship out the cut piece to cut down the cost to almost nothing....

Just a thought :)

I would be interested in seeing some cutaway pics as well. To my dismay no machine/porting/performance shop in town will touch a slant head for porting--so im left to do it myself  and I'd like to know how much can be safely taken out.

Hey Aaron,

I need to know where to make the cuts, so if Doug could help me out, that'd be cool! I have 2 late model heads, i used one for a practice porting job and found it turned out really nice and is really rounded and smooth.

Doc has some cutaway pictures of a older head and heres the pics:

I'll have to dig around for the others, (hope you dont mind Doc.)
