 Post subject: Float interchangability?
PostPosted: Mon Jun 23, 2003 2:19 am
Hi, i have a 1985 D 100 pickup, it has the original single barrel carb.
My float has been acting-up lately, so i decided i'm going to replace it.
I haven't actually physically examined the float, but the problems that i'm having are consistent with a sticking float.
I have ordered a new one and they asked me if it is a plastic float or a brass one.
Since i haven't actually seen it yet, i told him to hold on so i can find out.
But just in case those floats are interchangable i figured that i ask on this forum before i open her up.
So my question is:
Can i interchange the brass for plastic?

Most of the OEM ones are plastic, I like to use the brass ones if they are available.
I have not worked alot with the Holley 1945 so I can say for sure that the interchangeability is problem free, if the floats are cheap, you may want to get one of each.
