I have a 72 Valiant with a 225. I need to replace the fuel line from the tank to the carb. Can someone help me with part #'s? Should I use a braided line? What size and length should I get?

Get a new hardline, in either stainless or regular steel, pre-bent and ready to install. Fine Lines offers them. You need 72-74 108" wheelbase models, 5/16" diameter. $70 in plain steel, $100 in stainless. Pay attention to the smaller vent line that also runs from the tank to the engine bay, too.

While you are working on your fuel line, do a complete job of it: replace the short length of flex hose that connects the metal nipple off the fuel tank to the metal line running forward to the engine bay. Use fuel injection hose, 5/16" diameter, marked "SAE 30R9". If the metal clip that electrically bonds the fuel tank gauge sender to the metal line is missing, replace it; Chrysler p/n
2258 862. On a low-miles car like yours, there's likely to be a bunch of rust and trash in the fuel tank that will cause problems once the car is in regular service; you may want to head off these problems by dropping the tank and cleaning it out. If you do this, replace the filter "sock" on the fuel uptake pipe (GM p/n 5651 705) and use a new gasket (Chrysler p/n 6031 475) when reinstalling the sender. Probably also a good time to think about doing the Fuel line mod.
