Greg,

I keep meaning to ask what, what valves are these? They appear to have a long tip length. Image

Hi Greg. What a teriffic job you have done to document your engine build. I made a little search for Glyptol, and found an interesting sentence referring to the legendary Smokey Yunick:
Quote:
When Smokey first painted his engines he also painted the intake and exhaust ports. They were not allowed to grind them smooth, AKA porting. With the paint, many thin layers, they became smooth and increased flow rates. As he made more power and was beating everyone, they wrote a rule against painted ports.

HA HA :D

Olaf, Thanks,

Yes I am aware of Yunicks' Cool Tricks!
I did not paint any ports however.

Josh These are / Were Ford Valves,

Ford Int. Valves - 1.840" / 11/32" Stem / 5.070 Length.

They definitely appear to have a longer tip than stock, I have to measure the Reatiner heights and actual valve lenghts against stock to confirm.

Yep Double boxed it to and from Lexington.

The outside box was pretty beat up. but that's okay

I used the box from when I got the head from RaceKrafters as the inside box.

Well After a lot of thrashing on the Valve reliefs over the weekend, I degreed in the cam at 106* intake Lobe as the cam chart said. Got everything buttoned up.

Mounted the engine / Trans to my run in stand.

I had to get a correct (50") length belt for my crank / alt setup, Also Had to replace the water pump Due to a leak. Got An old Rad to use and mounted the rad and Correct electrical gizmos to get the thing to run on the stand.

Video Below for all to enjoy.

Ruster is currently at an undisclosed location having it's alignment done, I will have it back by tomorrow nite for a weekend drivetrain thrash.

Should be an easy swap as the whole old engine / trans will be coming out as a complete unit, and the new junk going in. Only part that will be pulled from the original engine in the car will be the dist. it's set up with the msd box and tach for the new engine.

Video Below.

More pics to follow.

Yeah, That's what the cam card Says.

I am no cam expert but Who knows I might pop the timing cover and dial it down to 98*

We'll See.
