Are these any good? I found one at Napa for 35 bucks Vs. 55 bucks for a rebuild kit from Schucks. I figure if they're pretty good and I can put the gear from the factory pump on it, it'd be a good way to go.

Go for it, $35.00 is a good price.
Do you know what size impeller it has? (thickness)
This must be an older unit just collecting dust on someones shelf, these days it is Melling and Dynagear who still make oil pumps for the Slant.

These days, I would put a case hardened gear on any pump I use. A known working used gear is my second choice.

It didn't say what the thickness is (I found it on the site), but I wouls assume it to be the normal 0.65" thickness.

Are there higher pressure pumps that can be gotten or retrofitted into a stock pump housing?

.650, .840 and 1 inch thick impellers were all offered.
You may as well get it and figure-out what impeller size it has later.
