Ryan's Dart had a total of 28 degrees timing if I remember correctly. I think he had a little pinging and backed it off a couple degrees more while running on the street. He just got a new MSD that will allow him to program his ignition curve to anything he wants. Have a race set up, and a street set up. Push a button on his laptop and your ready. The reality is his compression is a bit high for 93 octane. He was adding a little race fuel to the tank for a while but that gets to be a pain.

26-28 deg total mech advance, and add 19 deg at part throttle cruise. DO NOT go over 30 deg total with mech adv. Make sure to close up the mech advance slots so you have about 15 deg at idle.

The Dart is running at around 26* total advance, after I backed the timing off. It runs fine on 93 pump gas, but any more timing and it would ping. Like Dad said in his post the Darts CR is 10.7 its carbureted (600 edelbrock) and it runs 14.8's Its driven on the street all the time, and its not bad at all, I haven't checked the gas mileage lately, but I'm sure its not that great (15-16mpg) it has 4.30 gears.

The head was planed and it has larger valves, and hardened valve seats. Dad also spent alot of time blending the bowls, and grinding the ports to match the gasket size using a small die grinder. The head seems to flow great, and I haven't done any carb tuning or much ignition tuning yet so I should be able to pick up a little speed for this years race at mason dixon.
