Regulate flow in PVC pipe?

PCV or Pressure Control Valves coupled with a breather draw sweep air through the engine to keep things clean, and keep a slight vacuum on the bottom end to minimize leakage from the seals.

Or was that a question?

Yes. it was a question. and I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to remove some things off the engine to simplifie things a bit. such as removing the egr and pvc valves and possibly some other things. any suggestions???

No, it isn't a good idea to remove those things. Is there something wrong with them?

EGR allows you to run more timing, thereby netting greater fuel economy.

The PCV is needed to maintain a clean drip free engine.
Before the PCV, Road Draft tubes were used. Material was vented to atmosphere and coated the undercarriage.
Another method for creating a "Draft" through the bottom end of the engine is to install an exhaust crank case evacuation system.
The PCV is the most environmentally responsible way to take care of the problem.

No, do not randomly remove "stuff" from under the hood. See here.

Under the carb, on the side of the intake manifold. You should buy the books Dan recommends to learn what these systems do.

What is it you're trying to do?

Have you set the lash on the valves to .010 and .020 yet? That will help with the lack of power. You can also bump the timing up to 6 degrees from zero. I have been through this on my 74. Make sure your vacuum advance is working. That will also help a lot with power.

I just want power and a smooth running engine. I'm gonna remove the EGR, set the valves, make sure advance is working (how do I do that???) and 6 degrees timing. Not too sure how to time these engines. I cant find the lines or marks.

I was under the impression that PCV was for "Positive Crankcase Ventilation".

Am I wrong? Several of my automotive books use that term, and a new PCV device I have in my workshop also calls it Positive Crankcase Ventilation" valve.

Go figure?????
