Thanks for the input! :)

I got two original SL6 BBD's, maybe I should rebuild one and give that a try to see if it will rev over 4000 any better.

Lou, the 500 AVS sure sounds tempting. Not sure what rods you have to buy or rod/jet combination to get it to work on a SL6 though......Seems like a fool proof enough carb. At least you don't have to change power valves.

Sharing your experiences is very valuable and really appreciated!

Upgrading my engine now that I have 50,000 on it will be allot of fun! :D
The track time this year should prove very interesting!

I would start with your BBD. If you go AVS 500, they sell a tuning kit for $45.

Duration/LSA and centerline are most important, from my searches and experience.
This is one of the reasons I wanted to talk to Pete McNichols...his slant ran a grind that he stated was based on the 300 chrysler cam at the time... the lift on that cam was very "tame"(similar to the Erson cam)...but at 284 duration his engine seemed to really like what he gave it...I was curious about "how" he had arrived at that grind...vs. what the typical crowd was doing at that time for high duration/high lift...

I used the Eddy 1404 and 05 500cfm and LOVE them. I can go mild to wild and still use the same carb. Dont have to change jets or rods either just plug and play.
