I will post some more details here this week about the times. But I think the time trials for the Saturday race does not start till 5PM. It sounded like the early afternoon racing was all for the Jr. Dragsters. So Saturday would be an evening/ night race. Sunday, gates open at 8:00AM I think. Time trials begin at 12:00PM More details to follow.

I have a job at the Smithsonian Institute Museum of the American Indian in DC on Thursday night and may drop by the track on Friday/Sat.

When does everyone get there?

Is there camping at the track? Is the official hotel the Conference Centre?

Is it wrong to bring a Buick to a slant show? The western guys have few problem with me flying a Loon tipi in the pits.....how bout you eastern guys?

Sandy - great news!

Flying tipis and Buicks will be welcomed with open wallets/arms/eyes...

I'll be camping at the track at least Sat night, and I'll be in town starting Thurs eve or Fri day, hanging with Sam Powell very close to DC (Gaithersburg, MD). We need to hook up.

What are your plans for Friday day/eve? I'll PM you my cell again...

Cheers mate,

Lou

Sandy, No real "official" Motel , but the convention center was very close and had ample parking.I think Greg was staying there. There are bunches of places to stay close to the track if you are not pulling a trailer.

Camping at the track is free

Time for arrival ? Not sure yet. I will double check with the track and post back for sure on Saturday. But our Saturday race looks like it does not start until 5:00PM. Pits open at 12:00 Noon , but there is a Jr. dragster race in the afternoon until 4:00PM. I'm not sure what time folks want to meet at the track but I would say I want to get there a couple hours early to visit with folks and tell some stories, go through tech...etc. We can always watch the Jrs. race too. I am thinking maybe 2:00PM Saturday would be a good time.

More to follow.

Rick

Sandy, I will also have a non-mopar car at the track. At the very least we can band together against the pitchfork mob. It would be good to see you again, last saw you at St. Louis race couple years ago.

Well no racing for me :( I was driving my truck ironing out a couple of minor issues and out of nowhere a rod started knocking. Sounds like it's coming from the rear of the block so I suspect it's Nr 5 or 6. I was really looking forward to this - maybe next year.

Hey guys, I haven't been around on the board much recently, but have been busy wrenching on the car. To make a long story short there were some problems with the four-speed I installed, but I finished rebuilding it this past weekend and the car is ready. My question is the car did not come with seat belts from the factory, will I need them for a slow car? I'm assuming it will run 18's or worse, it's a stone stock 170, but I don't want to get there and not be able to race.

What's wrong with one of those other beauties in your signature?

I will ask the track owner tomorrow about the seat belt issue. Someone else ask about the older cars with only a lap belt. I think that is Ok, but I doubt that you can run without any seat belt. What kind of car do you have?

I think Don is afraid of us...

I would just get a universal lap belt to put in the car. Heck, I have some factory ones I could bring and you can have one!
