Sorry we missed you Pat. We just found out a few minutes before that, that it was canceled. We were still in the pits talking till about 12:00PM. Thanks for making the trip.

J just wanted to say what fun I had with everybody this weekend. ...special thanks to Lou for letting me thrash the Slantkota in the TnT. Thats my first time dragging on a strip since NHRA dumped Comp eliminator and went to brackets(1974?).

As soon as I was out of Maryland it was hot and sunny (33c) all the way to Iowa Falls. ....another 7 state day.

Have a safe trip home everbody!

Well, we had some fun even though it rained us out. I was happy to do a few practice runs Friday night in the "new" Project V and made a 14.38 @ 91.2 MPH without thrashing the new motor very hard. 13s should come...

Great to meet Ron Heath and co, Nick (Turboram) and Whitney, Wayne (fzmax) and several others new folks. Special thanks to Turboram for the ride in da Big Truck with da Big Turbo - impressive.

Sandy, you can thrash my iron any day.

Let's get a new date scheduled!!!

Lou

I should have driven all the way around to the pits. I talked to a couple near the camp area and they told me that the show was cancelled. It was raining so I headed out. I was staying over in Keedysville about 30 minutes away with some in-laws.

The trip up on Saturday afternoon (for a college graduation party in Frederick) was great. Top down and sunshine all the way. Going home on Sunday I was happy that the car could cruise all the way down Route 70 towards I-97 at 70 mph in the rain (top up, of course).

I need your input on the dates to reschedule. I know any date will not suit someone but we want to accomadate as many folks as we can. The guys at the race looked at 3 possile dates. The only problem I have is that when I got home last night I could not find the piece of paper that I wrote the dates down on anywhere. I remember 2 of them.

June 12, 13 - The 13th is the re-scheduled all Mopar event and some folks are coming to that already.

July 30, 31 & August 1- Friday- T&T , race Sat & Sunday

I think the other dates were June 26,27th, but no sure.

I really need the help of those who were there to refresh or correct my memory. Lou may possibly have the calendar we were writing on (we were using slantkota for a table) so hopefully we will get the exact date for you.

Thanks to all, Rick

Hey it was great to meet everyone! A big THANK YOU to Rick Covalt for all his hard work on this event.

And in spite of two rained out days, i got to make my first pass ever Friday night at the T&T. How fun that was! yay.

Hope to see anyone who can make it on the rain date.

Cheers Everyone!

C

Sorry to hear about the rain-out but it sounds like the "slanted family" that was there, still had some fun.

I think we are in for a cold & wet racing season in 2010.
Out West, we had 17 cars at Redding, with dark clouds, snow in all the hills around us and 40 degree weather... yes, in Redding, California, at the end of May!
Saturday had to be the coldest day I have ever raced there, usually it is clear and in the 90s at that track.

I just arrived home, safe and sound, and tired, about 1/2 hour ago. It was great meeting/making new friends, and seeing old ones, again.
PS: put 1983 miles on the old reliable Toyota, on this trip. Remember the "little engine that could"? :)

Good news Charlie. You definitely get the long distance award! Oh no do we count Sandy since he wasn't racing? Oh, who cares, many of you made long journeys and I am glad to have met you all. I'm sure Sandy is still flogging the old Roadmaster Buick towards home :D

Thanks again for coming up,

Rick

Thanks Rick for all your work.
I had a great time. Good to see everyone.I think you guys are gaining on me. I just was looking for a slant car on craiglist. Made a call. and might have to check out a slanted '64 dart conv. We need more races in this area.
Good time.

......yep ...I made it past Billings MT today.....which means I can be home tommorrow.

The temp was 27c and Humid in Wall SD when I fuelled at noon. 20 minutes later in Rapid City it was 8c with hail and wind. I actually had to stop for 10 minutes it was raing so hard.

Realistically Charlie is the long distance dude as calculated by ton/miles divided by HP....

Seems to me like ya gotta count everybody, since nobody ended up racing... ;)

It was a lot of fun to watch the progress during the last few days/weeks prior to the event, seeing the enthusiasm bubble, hoping on everyone's behalf that they'd be able to make it... I did kinda wish I'd been on the East coast. Lots of people all congregating, that I've been wanting to meet. Even if rained out.

Lou , sent me a PM and said that the 3 dates listed above are the ones that we had settled on. I think any of the dates worked for the local people so those that are traveling please let me know ASAP if you would like to come, and mainly if a date does not work at all. We will try and make it suit the largest number of people we can. I am sure we will lose some but I hope we can gain some others also.

Rick
