Just a suggestion. A slant/904 will fit, but have a very short driveshaft, and poor weight distribution. With a shorty trans, the engine can be set back for more rear weight.

Charlie,
I really do appreciate the advice! I didn't think anyone made a shorty 904. I will be contacting Frank about getting me a trans. He's having two made for himself. Stay in touch. Thanks again! Bob

Try google for Jeep Torqueflite (they used 904's with an adapter to the transfer case. Speedometer drive in the transfer case with only the governor on the short output shaft.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of any "shorty 904's".

Real interesting! Thanks for the tip! I have to look into this! Frank will have the shorty 904 tailshaft and housing ready in about 3-4 months and will place a notice of availability in the /6 web site. Bob

Yes, the one on the left is for a regular 904 the one on the right is for a modified 904 (mixture of Jeep/slant).

For you guys that want or need a short shaft 904, these parts are available in most salvage yards.

This one is going into a Rear engine dragster (hope to have it ready by 2013 season)

Speaking of which, I need to get the plate off my lathe, and mount my chuck back up.

That sure looks pretty in blue!

That must be "Ford Blue", right Fopar?

So, how many F/REDs are going together out there, anyway? I know of about 4 I think...

There's this other "Poser" that talked about one at the banquet and showed us some pictures. He's got some cool parts, but not sure any actual vehicle will ever materialize...

Hey Wayne! Ya got'cher ears on!?
