Do it right, start it up, get it warm. Shut it off, pop off the rocker cover. Restart, drop the rpms as much as you can and keep it running and adjust your rockers. Doing it right makes very little mess.

I agree, but Ems figures are a good place to start on an engine rebuild.

no fire from me,......I sometimes warm it up....shut it off .....and do it static.....

I recently did a running adjustment for the first time and will never go back to the other way.

It gets a little oil on things but it's easily wiped up.

Well I set mine to cold specs while hot. Nyah. :lol:

NOT! :roll:

Cold right after bolting the engine back together, Emsvitil gives you a good starting point. Loose enough to fire up and idle, tight enough that the parts aren't flopping around.

One thing I do to have less mess is to take a couple minutes and remove the fan. Keeps the air down. I set mine on 12&24,hot (truck specs).

Where did you find that spec? I have never heard of that for a slant six.
