No.
Just cancel the points race at Champion. Back to back at Samoa, or anywhere else on short notice isn't right.
I'll be at Samoa, and have taken time off for the weekend. It's still not the right thing to do. A lot of folks can't make Samoa.

More importantly; We need to make sure everyone knows that Driving to Medford for the 14th is going to be a locked gate at this point. That should be priority one. If I'd driven huge miles to look at a locked chain across the entry gate, I'd be ticked off.

We've got car count at Woodburn for the weekend of the 7th, but it's short notice. If the powers that be will sanction that race, and the Eastern contingent gives it the thumbs up, then there you go. If not, I'm OK with that. I'm just racing to see how fast I can make my car go on a pump gas all motor build.

I guess I'll change plans to Woodburn on Aug 7th and 8th. Too bad,
I actually like the Medford track, but maybe next year will be better for everybody.

I'm good for Woodburn.

I am glad I read about the Medford race being canceled.I was really looking forward to it though!! Its prolly not in the cards to get to Woodburn, but I think I will try for it.If we can pull it off, that would be great!!

If you decide to make the trip, you can catch a few winks here Andrew! Whether it's a points race or not, Woodburn is getting accustomed to fast slant cars!
Hope you can make it! :D

Allen Dutra has been notified to post on the killer bee website re this problem.I have asked Wayne to post his decision tomorrow, thanks for your input C,J I dont have a preference but if most of us are going to be there both days why not have sl/6 only lanes both days. I could care less about the points but this way we could race each other instead of other cars. By the way this is seven weeks lead time, The 7th is 3 weeks away and i have not heard a thing about a sl/6 race, at least three cars from here that would support it and could easily make it.

I agree with CJ, just shifting a points race, on a short notice, is not a good thing. I may be able to make the race in Samoa, that was on the schedule, but having a two day, both points races, is not fair for most of our racers. At the same time, making a points race at Woodburn, with such sort notice, is not fair either. Everyone needs to get the information of the changes to the Medford dates, and if it is going to be dropped as a points race.

Hi MIke ,I am glad people are voicing their opinions,I think this has been lacking if we are going keep this going we must consider everyones perspective ,knowing that you cant please everyone all the time. I dont make policy or have any more say then anyone else, but this has been a very difficult year for many slanters financially and logistically. I think the second Woodburn race would be great as the guys in the north would have a second race in their backyard. I couldnt afford to make the first and cant make the Mopar nationals this week but would love to come 8/7

Woodburn is pretty close to be considered for points. I'm totally OK with not considering it for points.

It's still going to be a grand time! :D

A bunch of us are going to be there regardless, so the more the merrier!

For me, Woodburn is right in my "backyard", about 50 miles. I am going to the Mopar Nationals this Sunday. If our racers and the powers in charge, decide to make the Oldies but Goodies race a points race, replacing the Medford race, I will be ok with it, but still feel it should have had more notice.
I know you can't please everyone all the time, but most of us either have jobs to work around to race, or are out of work and have to work around $$ to race.
Our racing is more about the friendship than anything else, to me at least.

Mike & Ceej have both made very valid comments and having 2 points races at Samoa for a weekend on such short notice or having a points race at Woodburn instead of Medford adding 200 miles for those from down south. It might be best to just lose 1 points race and try to do better next year.

First off thanks to all who have expressed their concerns and preferences. MEDFORD HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR ANY POINTS RACE IN AUGUST.

Fopar has been our race liason for the Northwest group and we agreed early in the year to have one points race at Woodburn. The dual conflictling August 7-8 dates, conflicts with the Hot Rod Nationals at Woodburn and most have expressed more of a interest in going to Woodburn than to Medford on this weekend.
I feel it is more important to continue to grow our Northwest group as most like the Woodburn events and it is surely more economically feasable for them. NO MEDFORD RACE IN AUGUST.

The Samoa race looks like it is becoming one of the more popular events and the track ownership sure has been KILLER BEE FRIENDLY... Many are looking forward to seeing some new Slant Six records set there this year and many new cars will be "showcaseing" at this event.
The situation is this... Do we have two points races at Samoa or have one at Samoa and add the Hot Rod Reunion race at Woodburn to replace Medford points race? I am leaning towards making the Woodburn race a points race and having Samoa one points race as scheduled. This should let those racers from up North continue to add points as there are several who will most likely not make the Samoa race due to travel, economic restrictions.
We all know that on the "off day" at Samao, we can run with the Sportsman Class and then with the entire separate Slant Six Class on the other day. THE BUCK STOPS HERE... I TAKE THE BLAME FOR THE MISCUE ON MEDFORD... I am very proud of all the continued support, help , input, and event attendance we have had so far this year... This is fantastic considering the economic "woes" all of us are encountering.
Comments appreciated ... Back to the "Hive"...
Thanks all of you,
Wayne

OK, It will be a points race for Woodburn's Hot Rod Nationals Aug 7 & 8, see the Who's going to Woodburn thread.

This will be Killer Bee points only, not SSRN points. Anyone looking for National points needs to know this. Wayne sent this info today via our web master Allen Dutra..
