I asked this over at sweptline but I'd like to get a second opinion on it just in case. The truck is a 68 D100 with a slant and a 3 on the tree. If I get it I'd like to convert it to a 3 on the floor. Is there a quality conversion kit out there and is it a ton of work to do? When I say a ton of work I mean is it kind of equivalent to turning an auto into a 4spd car?

I also have a 727 for a slant and a driveshaft that went from the 727 to an 8 1/4" in this Valiant I had. Would this driveshaft work if I put the 727 in the truck...depending on what rear end is in it? Or am I going to need a longer driveshaft for the truck? Thanks.

Just my opinion....

It was easier to put a 5 speed in my Valaint than it is to get a 3spd floorshift working well.

In both cases some assembly required.

Your best bet is a truck 4 speed.

Hurst sells a conversion kit that is really easy to install.

It was already done to my 63 Valiant when we bought it so I don't know first hand, but I could always dig up some info for ya if needed. :)

My 67 dart came converted when i got it. they cut the floor bad and now it looks like carp. I think my linking put put on wrong because i have an odd shift pattern. I've looked under at the linkage, and it doesn't look to hard to instal but i'm not saying its easy because i've never done this before. i think J.C.W. sells a kit for $100
