Great times in Kearney. Mike Jeffrey put out Glen Terry in the finals today. 8 cars made eliminations, with a few extra spectators on hand. Representatives from: MN, IA, CA, VA, KS, and NE.

2nd race tomorrow. Ryan P should be here with his 10 sec turbo Valiant.

The salad bar at "Steak USA" had the best tomatoes, watermelon, and ribs we have ever tasted (Seymour included). Pizza Hut was great Friday night too.

More report to come...

Lou

Jalene and I had a ton of fun and it was especially good to get Mr. Duster out again after 7 years. Many huge thanks to everyone that came, and especially Mike J for ramrodding the event, and Lou for all his help tuning the car.

I can't wait till the next time around! This is a cool, relaxed venue for our kind of racing.

George, thanks for posting the nice pics. Everyone had a ball, and we're hoping we can get enough interest for next year. My guess is, yes...

I just got home after driving with my buddy Neal in my '68 Dart to Des Moines, flying back to Roanoke, and driving home to Blacksburg.

Highlights for me:

1) helping George get his car tuned up with the new EFI
2) winning a round on Saturday
3) watching Neal take his first competition pass on Sunday in my Dart (0.036 light!)
4) seeing Ryan make a 10.91 @ 125 in the heat of the day
5) enjoying the shady grassy pit area, and
6) most of all the good company of the Slant 6 family through the weekend.

Big thanks for Mike Jeffrey for hosting, and to the track for making us feel welcome and giving us plenty of runs.

Cheers!!

Lou

Oh yeah, that was really cool too!

Maybe he'll come to an Eastern and/or Western race or two and get up in the points on both sides of the US! He is already 8 pts ahead of me in the East...

First, I have to send out a big THANK YOU!! from myself and my best bud to all those that made us feel so welcome at Kearney.
I showed up as a spectator, (and my bud's a Ford guy), and quite honestly felt a bit out of place due to not having a slant car with me. The guys that were there made both of us feel quite welcome, both at the meals and at the track. It's folks like this that make me keep coming back to this site, and willing to show up when I can, even if only for the social aspects of the gathering.

Second, another big Thanks to Mike Jeffries for his efforts at organizing this event. I'm reasonably sure that it took a fair amount of his time, (and maybe some patience), to do this for a showing of 8-10 cars.

Now......I too have a batch of pics, and four vid clips from Saturday. As soon as I can get them loaded and edited, I'll post links so that all of us can enjoy them.

Again, many thanks to the group as a whole, and extra kudos to Mike for his additional efforts.

Roger

Roger,

Great to meet you and chew the hide over the weekend. The biggest thanks you can give Mike is to bring a car over next year and race!!

Hope your trip back went well and your projects are enjoyable and go forward...

Lou

Made it home at midnight, great time again. Congrats to Mike he was on his game all weekend, consistent and very good reaction times. Great to meet Roger and gun pilot and spending time with the rest of the gang again. I have got to look into a turbo, watching Ryan jerk the wheels and run 10.90 with limited traction at 5300 feet elevation with 3.55 gears and a small tire is amazing. The track management and racers there make us feel welcome and this track is very well run and organized. Got to get ready for Samoa see you there.

I know, and I'm going to see what I can do about that. Shouldn't take too doggone much to get it into usable trim.

Interesting you should say that. Ever seen a "brick" of blow-in type of cellulose insulation get hit by a semi at 70mph?
We had to dodge one that fell off a trailer on I-80 before we made Iowa, but the truck behind us was to big to do any dodging......that bag popped like an overfilled ballon and made a huge gray cloud all around that truck.

Just wanted to say it was a hoot racing with all the other slanters. Got me some motivation to Mega Squirt the Valiant next year. Looking forward to doing it again with you guys!

Sergio, I run 2.94 gears and putting in 2.76's. Shift light comes on way to early in 3rd!

Ryan,

Seeing you run was icing on the cake. Megasquirt could be a good thing, although it seems like your carb is working pretty well.

Greg and all,

We are open to date preferences, and the earlier we plan the easier that will be. We had a couple of false starts last year on dates, but hopefully we can get it sorted earlier. The CA guys complained a little about the lack of Eastern folks, which I can't say I disagree with. Maybe we can have a better Eastern AND Western showing next year???

Great times...

Lou
