I have read and hear about all the problems people are having getting their machine work done. I know that their is a huge pool of experience reading this site, and was hoping that this post could be used as a kind of resource for those contemplating doing a performance rebuild of their slant. Perhaps people could leave name and contacts for machine shops, and a short note about their experience? I would love to find a place that you guys would trust a big valve ported head and a decent shortblock rebuild to!

Good idea. I'm in the Everett, WA area and wouldn't mind knowing of some of the machine shops around here. Only one I know of for sure is a shop in Woodinville, and that's only through a friend who used to work there.

Here in my area of Southern Cal the local shop has burned me at least twice..and two other persons that I know. At one time thought we had a performance shop that was slant wise in Long Beach, but lost all contact several years ago. I think our strict EPA and zoning laws might be responsible for the drought. Any shops in the South Bay area out there?

I'm in the New England area and would also like a resource like this. There is a resource for recommended repair shops at http://www.dodgedart.org. Scroll down to Dodge Dart Resources and then click on "Dodge Dart Repair Shops". Anyone can add to this list if they have any good recommendations.

I would try what used to be Dick's Machine is Marysville. They did an execellent job on the escort head I had them do and they had a wide assortment of interesting blocks, heads and whatnots laying around the shop. The new owner seems to know his stuff and wasn't adverse to doing performance work on a \6.

I live in the bay area, San Jose CA and was also looking for a good machine shop. My Scamp is getting over the hill at 80,000 and I just picked up a 72 Charger SE with a 200,000 plus 400 big block.
