A couple questions. I remember a while back that someone said that they had found a source of reconditioned 198 rods --- is that source still available? What about pistons to go with this set up? Finally, is it worth the effort for a driveably hot street engine?

I went ahead and bumped a thread forward, I talked to a place called Effinghams who had over 100 of the 198 con rods a while back. :shock:

:oops: What a great resource, I just need to know how to use it better! I called Effinghams and ordered a set today. Now, is there any tips for the piston situation? Any hordes of 2.2 pistons floating about too? Are the KB pistons useable for a street performance application?

I saw Slantzilla had a set of forged 2.2 slugs for sale a while back:

I have a set (6) of 3.465 Silvolites with a reworked dish that would make 8.4 compression. These have a few "passes" on them before I up-graded to forged. Drop me a PM if interested.

If you use the KB Hypereutectic pistons, be sure to run lots of top ring gap. I have had the top rings butt and crack the top ring land.
