Hi,

When I fill my 61 Valiant the fuel spurts out before my tank is full. Even when I am very careful and fill slowly I still have fuel blow back.

Any suggestions / ideas on how I can stop the fuel blow back would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Peter

I remember reading some where that some one is making a vented piece that goes in the fill tube. Ill see if I can find it.

Hummm…

I have a 1967 Dart, also owned one back in the early seventies, and have never had a problem filling the tank.

In the filler tube there looks to be a chamber that runs the length of it to provide a path for fumes to vent from the tank during the filling process. I believe what happens is, it fills with rust over the years, from moisture pulled into the tank via the atmospheric vent, and rust prevents fumes passing to the top of the fill tube during refueling.

I'll be testing this pretty soon (I will need to fill the tank pretty soon):

It did fit perfectly on a nozzle, with the shutoff hole lining up pefectly with the hole in the bottom.

we are talking apple and pears here. 2 different productions. the Australian production Valiants are obviously not as filler friendly as your Darts
as a matter of fact,if there was one thing about my 67,it is that filler. a right PITA !
(BTW -crickhollow is in Oz also)

regards,Rod :D

I make sure is there is not any good looking girl at the gas station before I preceed to fill the stupid design Gasfiller tube tank.

I have to hold the nozzle upside down, and from very far away,,,I look the flow,,,,because I know once is full, it will spit back like ~ 1'2 of gallon og gas right into my feet!!!WT*!!!

just make sure you wear no sandals when refilling the gas.

thanks.
