I talked to Jim Cox and he said that Milan was pretty wet with on and off rain all weekend. They did manage to get the race in but it was a low turn-out with 7 Slant Six cars going into the first round.
Jim Cox was the low qualifier with a 10.61 pass. Jim said the 1.3 on the 60 ft time would have put this pass into the nines if the shifter had done it's job, it did not and the engine hit the 7500 RPM limit chip for a moment before the 3rd gear shift.

(no wonder these guys break stuff

)
After the first round on Saturday, there was a big oil down, then a big wreck and lot's of finger-pointing that the track was still slick....then it started to rain again and that was all for Saturday.
Sunday saw some sun, so the 2nd round of the SL6 race was run with Dale Rose vs Rodney Hargis and Jim Cox against Ron Hamby....big up-sets prevailed with Dale and Jim both getting by the points leaders and into the final....then it started to rain again.
By 3:00 Sunday the rain let-up for good, the track was dried and the SL6 final was run. Cox went red on a .495 RT but both cars make full passes into a close double brake-out mid 11 second finish line contest. I need to get all the numbers to see how close the racing really was.
Congratulations to Dale Rose for his points win, that puts him in the lead.
Seeing the whole event ran hopelessly late, the SL6 Fast Four race was not run.
On a final "close the store" solo pass at about 7:00 Sunday night, the Cox car ran a 9.97 @ 131 mph, making them the second Slant car into the nines this year. Good work and congratulations to the Cox Team!
