I have a slant six 225ci with engine numbers that tell me it was stamped November 3, 1964, in a 1962 d100 with blue paint which from what I can tell seems the original paint on it. My question is this, how can i find out, tell, guess at what it came out of? Where there certain models that had the blue for that year? Multiple models?

In 1964 passenger car engines were red, truck engines as you probably know were yellow. Can you post the actual stamping and casting numbers?

Looks to me like the motor was originally red. Blue was not used until the early '70's.

The stamping pad under the alternator bracket will have the date code.
