Drum brake master cylinders aren't well suited to disc brakes. Use a Raybestos MC36412. New, not "remanufactured".

And put 13/16"-bore wheel cylinders in your 10" rear drums to prevent the premature rear lockup disc brake A-bodies were disreputable for. The smaller-bore rear cylinders were first used in '62 on Chrysler-built cop cars to prevent rear lockup. Not sure why they reckoned it was okeh for civilian cars to lock up the rear brakes, but a lot of A-body disc brake systems have ugly premature rear lockup issues; the 13/16" wheel cylinders in the back clear it up perfectly without need of futzing around with an adjustable prop valve. NAPA-United 37696, Raybestos WC37696, Wagner F113704, or ACDelco 18E268 is the wheel cylinder you want — times two (left = right).

The TSB mentions 11" brakes; this is immaterial because 10", 11", and 12" drums use the same wheel cylinders.

What years and model would the Raybestos MC 36412 master cylinder have been installed on? Sometimes computer clicking parts counter personnel become confused if no year and model is attached to a request.

Spring of ’08, when trying to get the Dart roadworthy, I installed new rear wheel cylinders, I believe they came from Napa, unfortunately that invoice (a small unauthorized floater) is missing from the archives. I will have to pull a drum and measure what is there.

What is the diameter of the non cop wheel cylinder; 15/16th inch? Knowing that dimension may make determining what I installed easer to identify, in other words less disassembly.

'73+ A-bodies with nonpower disc brakes, pre-'78 F-bodies with nonpower brakes.
They would be the 15/16" items, not the 13/16" ones you want.

A new Raybestos MC 36412 arrived this morning from the Rock, and still awaiting two rebuilt calipers to arrive from a west coast warehouse. Wow that new unit is considerably beefier than what is presently installed on my firewall… 1"+/- wider x 5/8â€￾ longer. Both old & new master cylinders have unequal sized reservoirs, however the new unit possesses larger fluid capacity which is good.

Would you know which length push rod would be required to operate the new master cylinder? I haven’t removed the old unit & rod yet, and I’m wondering if it will be serviceable. Is there a test to determine if my existing rod is of correct length other than just inserting it to the new master cylinder, and observing how far it goes in?

You should be able to bolt up the MC and slide in the rod w/o rubber donut to check for pedal height. Same rod and your original manual brake piece should work.
