I have a 74 Dart and I am interested in knowing how wide and tall of a tire can fit in it's corners. I don't want to do spring relocation or any surgery to make larger meats fit, just as big as I can get otherwise. Thanks All.

How much do you want to spend? Is the car large bolt pattern?

I have 235/45R17 front and 255/40R17 rear on my '67 which has the same room under the fenders. No trimming required. Once in a while a rear tire will rub on the inside of the wheel house, but only when entering/exiting a parking lot at an angle and one wheel is pushed up and the other drops.

Cost is irrelevant. I'm planning the build as if the car came from the factory with all the parts I'm looking at. Larger tires on all 4 corners just seemed like the next logical step in my planning schedule. 9 1/4 inches for tire width on the front seems to be a solid start. Has anyone gone larger without surgery and rubbing?

If you're willing to trim the front corner of the front fender and do a little rear wheel well stretching 275/40R17 is possible on all 4 corners. I might try one of my rear wheels on the front of my car to see how it fits, but that's not going to happen any time soon. The 255/40R17 on the back is really at the limit. I can't get my pinky in between the tire and spring.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'm thinking on keeping all 4 corners the same; for that stock appearing look. Are there any tools handy so I can get accurate measurements at home?

I was looking at Summit racing at a Wheelrite for 69.95. I did read it was flimsy and plastic on another forum. I also saw one a guy built himself out of metal. It looked pretty good.
