Alrighty Well thank you guys for this great site, i purchased a d100 custom with a slant six the intake manifold gasket was blown out, i checked warpage on the intake/exhaust mainfold it was all ok no cracks in the manifold, well i pulled the head off to and did a valve lapping job , and put in some new valve seals, this truck ran like $#!+ when i got it #6 missed super bad shook the whole truck, well the guy i bought it off of had no mech. knowledge now i am a certified technician, i am 20 been working at a dodge dealer for 4 years now, but this carb stuff well i went back as far as TBI but i never owned a carb, so i got it all back together and now it runs but i gotta keep working the choke, and it wont idel its getting way to much fuel, no o2 sensor either they plugged it and i could not get the plug out, the number on the carb for 3332 now on the carb some ports are missing the ESA and another one, i dunno how to route my vac lines i had a chilton book i think i did ok, also were does the ground go on the passenger side its a big black ground cable, this truck i want it to run like it did in 85 a strong running one, can someone please give me some advice what to do should i get a used carb? did this have a holly vaccum or electric? the carb they put on has an APP sensor in the carb but i see no plug for it on the truck? What should i do someone please help thank You!

If it's running rich at idle even after adjusting the idle mixture and speed the float level may be too high, the needle and seat may be leaking or the float is bad.

Working the choke? What happened to the automatic choke?

The Chilton manual belongs in the head for when you run out of nice toilet paper. Chilton left out a lot of what you need and left garbage in it's place.

The vacuum diagram should be on a sticker in the engine compartment. If its absent look on-line.

What year is your truck? Is there a vacuum advance on the distributor?

My eyes breathed a sigh of relief at the concise sentences, nicely punctuated.

Thank you for the rep. and i agree the book is garbage, sadly my chrysler tech connect does not go back that far, but i did figure out my issue, after surveying the obvious i came up with a theory and it worked out, the exhuast was plugged... The o2 sensor was removed, and the intake/exhaust gasket went, so i believe what happend is it ran rich on the highway flooded the cat melted the cat down backpressure built up and blew the weakest point out, the intake/exhaust gasket, i unbolted my pipe, and fired the truck up and it ran alot better , still thinking of getting another carb and rebuilding it mine has some ports missing / broken off. and im going to get another exhaust manifold with a O2 sensor in it, i believe if it came that way keep it that way.
