I bought a 2001 4.6L TB w/ only 6k miles for $20+ship. I will machine a custom adapter out of 1/4" or 3/8" aluminum to fit my Clifford 4bbl manifold. You could easily get some scrap plate and saw it with a sawzall/bandsaw and drill holes with a hand drill using gaskets as your templates.

Now I am curious about the adapter plates and how they work as I have never seen or used one. Do you just weld it to the manifold and drill and tap new threads for the new TB? or do yu somehow managed to bolt the plate to the manifold and then bolt the TB to the plate? I don't get how that works.

If you get a Clifford or Offy 4bbl intake, you will see. Bolt the plate to the manifold (with allen head bolts recessed for the carb plate), then bolt the carb (or TB) to the plate.

I want to try and avoid buying anoher intake, I want to use my super six or my single barrel. Anyone know how the inside diameter on the 4.6l mustang TB compares to the diamter of the hole on the single barrel intake? The 4.6l one is a 65mm bore isn't it?

Bob, who did you get to make up your fuel rail and manifold and what did it cost you(if you don't mind me asking), also did you send them you manifold or did they buy one and build it up.

I believe the 4.6L is 65mm bore, yes. The stock 1bbl intake is like 40mm or so.

The cheapest way to do TBI is use GM hardware with a 747 computer. There is a complete hack of the 747 control code and shareware for programming and reading the data stream. DIY_EFI and GM_ECM have all the info you need. If they still exist they have been down for some time now. The 730 and 727 ECM can be used similarly for port fuel injection. The Third Gen website is an alternate source of information about reprogramming GM computers. You can even reprogram your poor running Howel EFI setup if you want to make it run better. A eprom programmer might be one of the more expensinve pieces, if you can not borrow one.

Rich, yea the howell setup uses the 747 computer. But for the price of an eprom programmer and eraser you can build a megasquirt. Tunercat is a nice program.

Jedi,
I had Rance Fuel Injection ( www.rancefi.com ) do the machine work and weld the injector bungs and fuel rail brackets on my Offenhauser manifold. The total cost for the machining, welding, and fabrication of the matching fuel rail was $460. I sent a manifold that I had purchased for very little at a swap meet to Rance. However, Rance is also an Offy distributor, so you could get the manifold from him if you want to go that route.
Bob D
PS. There is a picture of my manifold on Rance's site under "Mopar manifolds" (The throttle body was not mine).

Yah thanks bob, I saw that one last night. :) I sent him an email and he sent me the same price 460 for the fab work. More than what I can spend right now, I'll have to put it off for a while. :(

From http://www.diy-efi.org:

Welcome to the EFI-332, DIY-EFI, and gmecm WWW pages.
You may have noticed that the WWW page and lists have been down for a month or so. The short story is that there was some kind of failure that managed to corrupt the hard drive. The server uses a dual drive RAID system for redundancy but something obviously went wrong.

There have been plenty of offers of server space, money, parts, and everything else, and for that I offer a big thank you! The server has been restored to it's condition as of January 2003, but the lists themselves may not be turned on for a while.

In the meantime I'm seeking help to rebuild the missing content. This is mostly the archives for 2003. Also probably some of the obd2 stuff that I recently added. There may also be files missing from the ftp site. Don't start sending me stuff just yet, I don't want to be flooded! But if you can help with:

you have significant amounts of the WWW page archived somewhere, or
you have time to sift through the internet looking for stuff
you can host or mirror the WWW page and listserv <== especially this!
then please get back to me at steve.ravet@arm.com
Thanks for your patience,

--steve
