Small bit of info here, probably useless but might be helpful to sombody who can't get to an American parts dealer but has easy access to older British bits and pieces.

The thermostat housing on my slant appears to be a die cast mazak part, and is marked "stanpart 156333"

A little research shows this to fit Triumph Spitfires and Heralds (presumably other . . ?). I've never had any problems getting it to fit (always assumed it was the correct part) and all the holes seem to be the right size and place.

It came with the car - God knows how sombody discovered this but the two work together quite well.

So if there's anybody living in the UK or anywhere else looking for a t-stat housing in a hurry, this might be a temporary fix.

Similarly, if any of you guys over the pond have busted the t-stat housing on your Triumph Spitfire, try this before you go shipping parts across the Atlantic!
