I bought a NOS 2bbl a couple of years ago and I'm thinking the advice at the time was to take it apart and put a Carb kit in it? Does that sound correct to anyone or maybe you can tell me why?

Sure I took notes but who thinks to write that down...

Yes, rebuild is what one dose to a New Old Stock carburetor. That unused baby has been sitting somewhere on a shelf for years and years, and all the soft parts have dried, and gaskets shrunk. So freshening up those items with 2011 parts will make it a new carburetor.

Thanks Wjajr, (Wm right?) I was thinking that was the reason and the rhyme but wasn't sure.

I have just put a kit in my NOS Holley 2280.I was getting a bog off idle.
When i took the carb apart, the plunger stem rubber had actually gone really soft and looked about 2 mm bigger than the replacement.
I'm thinking it might have actually been folding back on itself on the downward stroke .
Put a new rubber and gaskets in,wallah, sweet as.
No bog now.
