I know that feeling about being excited. Tomorrow, I finish up all the redo mechancal stuff and am setting up a time to run at the one of the local air strips to do some test runs as the motor is running as expected, maybe better...hard to tell without hitting it hard. We should be able to do that Sunday or Monday. Wednesday, if it tests out proper, we will be running at the Sacramento Raceway Wednesday Grudge fest to get some times and some test and tune. Sometime inbetween those events, hope to get weighed. I'll still be running mostly stock body parts as the real weight reduction will come over the winter with more time and money. Hope this goes well as I really want to be at Samoa to run with you guys.

Do have a question for Mark...is your compression issue across the board or one or two holes?

Take care all,

Dave

Wow Mark, what #'s were you running before? Maybe we will meet on the road on the way there.

Went to the air strip yesterday and had some problems namely vacuum and shifting(my fault) and seem to be having some ignition concerns like cutting out at 4000 rpm. Fixed all the vacuum stuff and reset the spark plug gap to .029, reworked the shift linkage so I could adjust the shift rpm down. I never did get into 3rd yesterday. Set way too high on the throttle connection. Will test that tomorrow morning. May play with the air gap on the distributor. Manufacturer says to set it at .008 but that seems kind of tight. What do you all think? I would appreciate any expertice you might have.

I will be going to Sac raceway tomorrow for the Wednesday night drags. It's only $15 so not much investment for a minimum of 4 trips down the track. Will allow me to make final adjustments.

Glad to see such great turnout and looking forward to seeing all of you there and eating a great deal of food.

Saturday test and tune and about a thousand Harleys, Last year only about a dozen tested. So slanters can get tons of runs prior to the race.Slants are the only eliminations Sat. Sunday is a regular bracket race,so slants can run sportsman or pro or both (if under 13.99). Hey Mark The density altitude has been around 200 this week in the afternoon at Samoa ,if the fog lifts and the track gets some heat i see an 11.30.

Well fellas, I replaced the valve body in the tranny and still no 3rd gear although second was better. No way I can get this lockup tranny to work the way I want it so have to have one of my spare 904's gone through and have a different converter built for it. Obviously won't happen this week.

You all have a great time. Wish I could have made it but I gave it my best shot with long hours put in.

Dave  :x
