Cool! You can be the next one to discover that they don't do anything. :D

Care to discuss crevice volume? How about flame quench? Here is my 170's cylinder head.

Aw Dennis, at least tell him why or make him think a little.

It will only help(in theory)if you have a tight quench in the engine. I know several Winston Cup engine builders who have done some R&D with that concept and never went any farther with because it was of no benefit to them. A lot of people feel its just snake oil and nothing more.

If you are interested to explore what this really means for the whole world, you can see a YouTube video of Martynelli from Spain cutting a nice pretty groove with nothing more than a hacksaw blade, triangular file and some sand paper, in less than four minutes!
If I can do that in only three minutes, so how much extra power do I get by cutting down on the time it takes by 25%?

If you do it with a dremel-tool, you may get a double bonus here; just remember to make a cut around the venturi area of the carb as well, like the GadgetmanGroove, then you can decrease emissions, increase power and improve milage even more!

If it sounds too good to be true, ...

Olaf.

"Even though this test didn't take advantage of the Groove's main strengths (a 'worst case scenario' in other words) the dyno still showed a +6 hp power increase and a smoothing of the power band through all rpm's."

Lol... fair bit of work for +6hp.

Don't do it.

What engine was the original testing done with.

I do suppose it would increase the surface area (actual quench area) too, I might do it if I had a .010" head gasket, thanks for reminding me.

As Dan has mentioned above if you view the links on the site that show tests on the method. They will often achieve increased power MPG etc but also because they put a new carb on the engine, upped the compression, changed the cam, did a complete rebuild etc.

If it worked as well as the site suggests the idea would have been taken and turned into a money maker.

One of the engine builders on Moparts dyno'd a 360 after he put the grooves in it. His testing showed that they did absolutely nothing. Same motor, same heads, no new parts except gaskets.

I'd be willing to bet the grooves increased HC emissions.
