Packed and ready to leave here about 8am. Looking forward to seeing our slant six family again. It seems like I have been away for so long. All you fast cars get ready to chase down a real slow dog if it will make it to the end of the track. The car has only been driven up into the trailer so who knows what will happen. SEE EVERBODY SOON IF WE DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS ON THE ROAD. NORM. YEAH CANT WAIT

Way to go Norm!! I won at Elk Creek with a really slow truck. And my son got second in an almost equally slow truck. Wish I was going to be there to meet you in person. I feel like I know so many folks on here that I have never met. Maybe I can talk you and Ron "possum" Parker into coming to Mason Dixon next May. We'd love to have you! Good luck to everyone.

Rick Covalt

PS. To all, please take lots of pictures!!

i guess i will have to get one of those question marks by my name. i have to replace the radiator in my son Kyle's 86 truck, my large pilot crank for the 67 engine is cracked so i am looking for a replacement. along with some other boring non slant related things my budget has taken a hit.

plan to be there next year with my truck. maybe Rob's awesome offer for rookies will be good then. bummed i couldn't do it this year.

DadTruck please check your PMs. :D

Andy.

I'm getting a late start today. A full week of really bad insomnia caught up to me yesterday, so after work I just went home instead of preparing for the trip.

I'm packing up now and will stop by Sam's Club to pick up the calendars on the way to the garage.

I did get some sleep last night for a change.

Weather still looks good for the weekend!

Really looking forward to this!! :D

Andy,

I will ALWAYS pay the entry fee for ANY Rookie that wants to join us!

Welcome back Lou. Hope you had a great trip.

Also I didn't hear anyone mention that they had a T & T tonight for $20. I know Ryan would have gone if he knew about it. Maybe he did! Just seen it was on page I of this note! I'm just stupid

I just got off the phone with Ryan and got a few updates. He thought there were 12 cars there. The Semi rounds had Ron Hamby facing Larry Chesney. Ryan Covalt had a bye into the Final. But Ron had some sort of fire (Alcohol) on the car in the pits, and he was unable to race. It took a couple fire extinguishers to get it put out. Ryan said the fire was pretty scary, but Ron was Ok and did not need to go to the hospital.

So the Finals had Ryan facing Larry with the win going to the the long hauling, trailer pulling, 4 speed, 72 Swinger of Ryan Covalt!!   Woo Hoo! Way to go son! Congrats to Larry on the R/U also.

Ryan told me his last two rounds were 15.1 D/I and he ran a 15.137 & 15.133. That's what I'm talkin about !!!

I told him just to go ahead and win tomorrow while he was at it!

Rick

Had a great day today, It was good to see all my Slant buddies and meet some new ones like Ryan.
We had a good run in the second round, Ryan and I with identical .039 lights and he runs a dead on against my .7 under. It was tight in the lights and I was unsure who took the stripe.
A really nice couple and congrats again on the Anniversary. You would have been proud today Rick.

Cant wait till I win the lottery so I can afford to come back there and show you some really fast times.I go red 80% of my runs so I am easy pickings and if I dont go red,I NEVER lift,I dont care if I got three car lenghts.Everyone on the west coast loves it when they get paired up with me.I really really want to run back there.Have a good time this weekend.Guzzi Mark

Just a quick call to Ryan to see how it was all going. They had just finished up the second round and Meril put him out for the day. Ryan said he thought he had Meril covered and left up at the line, but the old veteran flew by for the win. But Meril has a bye in the 3rd round, so he just went into the finals. :D That is all for now. I will try and find out who won for you in a couple hours! Boy I wish I was there!!

Rick

It is all over but the shouting! Just talked to Ryan and he and Whitney are already on the way home. As you know Meril was in the final by way of the bye run, and I think the other side of the ladder had Larry Chesney facing Greg Ondayko. Greg got the win and faced Meril in the final. The win goes to Meril Bruner and the Funny truck! Congrats to both men on their runs.

That's the last update from 10 hours away. I'll let someone who was there give us all the details.

Rick
