I re read your post.I used a heat gun and a putty knife to remove the undercoating and it must be removed to get a good weld joint.
I the corners you might have to cut and split ,Youll see what I mean when you start making your patterns.

Thanks for being long winded. The shrinker stretcher tools sure could help on those corners - right now to do the curves I make a wood form and wail on it with the body hammers until the metal "stretches" over the form.

My back floors are perfect - I have no front drivers floor and pinholes through the entire front passenger floor. I would have thought the
60 and 61 would have the same rust out prone areas.

dumb question here but is this floor supposed to be 2 layers. It seems as it is. But all the repair panels are 1 layer from the looks of the m at the sherman site.

Relic lover, my 61 parts car is rusted as you say your 60 is but my 60 has spent the last 20 years in a concrete building and I think that the rust in it is more from condensation than anything. The funny thing is that the outer body is nearly rust free. I would love to see pics of your Valiant as I would other 60-62 Valiants or Lancers.

Sidenote: Those fuel lines look pretty gnarly too. Make srue they are good enough or else replace them before you start driving.

Yep, you are right Pierre. They are trash. The sawzall even didn't slow down going through them. I'll be running new bigger line so no worries.
