I was a little concerned about my battery tray fitting with the full sized alt. but it worked out fine.

Yes, Will and it may end up there, but I am having a hard time deciding where to put the shut off!

Thanks for the link Olafla. I see one that looks close but it looks like you have to buy 50. I have to do a little checking to see if there are any suppliers around here.

With all the smack talk going on from Rob and Wayne and Dennis and Lou, I started to get a little skeered. So I thought I better get with the program. I dropped my driveline off at the shop today to be shortened. (49 1/2") and it should be done Wednesday. Then I will double check my pinion angle and weld the perches on permanently. I also drilled out the temp sender hole in the head to 1/4" pipe size to fit my new sender for my gauges and I picked up the copper oil line kit. I also got my ignition switch mounted in my home made gauge panel. So, soon the gauges can go in for the last time.

But the big thing I got done was painting my garage 30 X 40'. Between 3 weeks of rain and now snow I'm glad its painted. Next time it needs paint it is getting vinyl siding!

Got to get to the garage, I can hear Rob catching up! :D :D

Rick

Hey Rick, With all the time those guys are spending on here, running their fingers, they can't have any time left to work on their cars. :P :P

Please double check my numbers. Car is setting on its wheels. I added weight to the trunk to simulate a full tank of gas. I have the rear end centered in the car(it was off 3/8") and am ready to tack on the spring perches. I only want to do it once! :D :D

Reading on driveline 5 degrees down
Reading on pinion 1 degree down

If my math is correct 5+1 = 6 degrees / this is right in the middle of the 5-7 degrees that the M.P. book says is preferred. I'm ready to nail it down.

Talk to me please!

Out to the garage to start on some wiring/ignition stuff.

I may be completely wrong but I thought that the pinion angle should be set at 7 degrees down for when the pinion crawls up the ring gear during starting line starts and all that torque down the track ?? Just asking a question not stating a fact.

OPPS, almost forgot the driveline at a lesser 2 degrees down? Again just thinking out loud.

One more time,, are your readings taken at the trans yoke and the pinion yoke ?

Readings taken off the driveline and off the pinion yoke, as it said in the MP chassis manual. I will check as Dennis mentioned in the other thread and get back to you

On a street car you want to end up with 3-4 down. The 7-8 referred to in the MP manual was for stick drag cars only.

Ok Big D. Guidance appreciated! Laughing I pulled the driveline and here are my readings.

Off of transmission dust boot 4 degrees down
Off of rear yoke 2 degrees down

Sooo! if I understand (which I probably don't) In an ideal world I would want the rear at the opposite angle 4 degrees up, so the two offset each other.

Then to allow for wind-up I need 3-4 degees down from the tranny reading.
That would mean my rear yoke needs to be at 0 degrees to have 4 degrees difference?

Right now I am at 6 degrees, and am not changing until I here from you!

Laughing

One other thing is that my car is a stock leaf spring car & automatic. It will be a 4 speed before it is all over. That article does not mention a stock leaf spring reading. Maybe my 6 degrees is OK??

Thanks a million,
Rick
If it were me, I'd put the rear at 0 and call it a day.
Above is from the other pinion angle thread where Slantzilla help straighten me out!
