I have a '71 D100 and would like to swap in a A833OD trans. I have measured the A745 3 speed at approx. 24" overall length. I have been told that the short version of the A833 is around that same length. My question is has anybody done this swap? Should i be looking for a truck or car length trans? I want the install to be as easy as possible so if the current cross member could be used that would be great.

You want to be looking for the truck length 4 speed OD I just recently swapped from the NP435 to the ODA833 and I am loving it. Basically on the truck version you have a long tail shaft that has a mounting pad near the very back and one near the very front. I know where there is one for sale in my area but the guy wants $300 for it. If you need any help or have questions I am more than happy to give you information on what you need to get everything switched over.

833OD uses a 727 front yoke. Your tranny? I don't know.
