Fired new rebuilt six no oil pressure pulled valve cover no oil splash pulled filter off and it looked dry. Can I get the pump out while it's still in the car(1969 dart) or is there something else I could do first. Also there were a couple drips of water by the number 1 and 6 exhaust bolts

Remove filter and pour some oil down the stand pipe and the hole next to the pipe. you need to put some sealer on the threads of the leaking bolts.

on a new motor, I would pull the plugs, ( pull the coil wire to) and crank the motor, 10 to 15 seconds at a time until you see oil pressure before starting it..

I did that with my motor put the pan on and thankfully I realized I had forgotten the pickup before I put it in the car.

Well pulled the motor and found there was no pickup, off to the wreckers tomorrow thanks to everyone for the help trying to solve this . Not the experience I wanted for my first six experiment . Things should be better tomorrow if I can get it back in the car.

I would be worried about that engine...
Re-check everything... the builder may have "forgot" some other important stuff... like getting the bearing caps on the correct way or torquing things to proper spec.
And I would bet that the cam and timing chain were installed "dot-to-dot". (not degreed)
I hope I'm wrong on all this... but leaving an oil pick-up tube out of a rebuilt engine is a big "red flag" in my book.
