Here is the head currently on my car:

If I remember correctly, it has had .1 shaved off of it as well. I just got a line on a correct-direction marine motor, so I'm going to start slapping this thing together, hopefully in time for MATS. This car is going to be an autocross/track day car, if all goes well we may even take it to Pan America this year as well as Boneville. I have an erson cam as well as a blank I can send out fro grinding. I plan to make a 3x1bbl intake that a linked previously:

But may go FI and a conservative turbo. Suggestions on cam and compression for the long block? Current set up:

Nice gains there with stock valves. What fuel will you run? What HP or track performance are you after? Max RPM desired? Budget for long block? These will affect recommendations...

Would love to meet you at a track when you're done.

Thanks,

Lou

I don't plan on spending more than a couple hundred. Cam, enough machining to clean anything gross up, and new bearings. I'd like to be able to run on crappy 91, due to the probability of Mexican gas running through it.
I'm not too interested in max RPM, so much as being able to idle on the idle circuit and average RPM and a good broad torque curve.
I guess I just really need to know what kind of cam the Argentinians are running......

OK, I'd run 10:1 comp and the Oregon Cams #346 grind.

Specs:
234/228 @ 0.050", 0.480", 106 LSA, degree in at 100-102 for track use.

Can run 340 V8 valve springs (cheap and easy to get/install). Watch coil bind or keeper grazing valve guide as these are on the edge for 0.480-0.500" lift.

Lou

Cool, thanks for the suggestion. I've got a Comp with .440 lift now and their springs, I had to pull the bigger erson because the keeper was contacting the guide. I'm going to shave them down a skoosh the next time I have it all apart.

On a separate note, has anyone had or seen issues with hot spots because of all the excessive milling of the heads and block? I can imagine not too much attention is paid towards quench area in the stock configurations.

I have run up to 0.11/0.21" angle mill on street and track (11:1) on a '64 head and no observed issues. Mill away....
